Co-ed Hockey Tournament 2009
Anyone remember the 'bad guy' karate teacher from the movie "The Karate Kid"?
Well, whatever you say his name, I believe you...anyway...remember when he has
his students, like, totally brainwashed? And they're in the karate school
place screaming, "Strike first, strike fast, no mercy Sir!" And by doing
that, all those kids, or at least by and large, do something a little foreign to
us...win maybe? We should've been taking notes, I swear...
The team came out hard against a tough team and took their first game 3-2.
Then took on another tough team from Austin and bested them 5-4. Then came
the lesson...the weakest team in the tournament, our boys (and girls) showed
mercy by not beating the holy doo-doo out of that team like the other turdo
teams did and took another win 7-3. The lesson lies in the tie breakers:
1. Goals against
2. Goals for
3. Penalty minutes
So, long story short, and after I had just got done telling someone not to worry
about the penalty minutes because there is no way--NO WAY--we'll get that far
down in the tie breakers. SMACK...like a pie to the face...three way tie
all the way across the board. Top it off with the tough Austin team having
their last game, and the last game of the night, against weakest team
KNOWING that goals, one way or another, is a tie breaker. So we
ended up having a fun, little all girl shootout with one of the other teams for
2nd place, and we just couldn't put the cat in the hat and walked away with 3rd
place, again.
The lesson? Show no mercy, take no prisoners and SCORE GOALS WHEN THE TIE
BREAKERS ENVOLVE SCORING GOALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But for real, we all had a great time, like we always do up there in College
Station, had some creative "wardrobe" action going on and drank a lot
of...uh...liquids? Yeah, liquids. Next CS tournament is in September
and we already have people signing up, if that tells you anything about how much
blankety blank fun we have!!
